TREATMENT PROCEDURE

The cooled sapphire laser head glides over the skin surface that needs to be depilated. The light pulses penetrate the skin and destroy the melanin in the hair follicles by thermal injury. For permanent hair removal, several treatments are necessary, which should be performed at intervals of 4-8 weeks.

HAIR REMOVAL WITH LASER IS MUCH MORE EFFECTIVE THAN WITH IPL.

IPL means “Intense Pulsed Light”. The common expression in the vernacular is flash light. Laser is short for “Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation”.

I do all hair removal only with laser out of conviction. There are good reasons for this:

Light (IPL) has a high scattering loss, penetrates the skin only up to a maximum of 5mm and, according to experience (also according to most clients), has a success rate of only 50-70%.
With laser, the coherent light runs parallel, therefore there is no scattering loss. These laser beams reach up to 8mm into the skin, where the hair roots are located. The Vectus® diode laser I use has a success rate of up to 95%.

The advantage of the Vectus® laser device here at Laser-Promed is that it is a high quality, medical grade device made in the USA. Lasers from China are unfortunately not very reliable.

In a hair removal treatment with a Chinese laser, the hair comes back after 2 years because the hair root remains. The hair roots must be destroyed by thermal injury i.e. heat.

Besides, during the hair removal treatment I also work with the Skintel. This is a melanin measuring device, which accurately measures the degree of tanning of the skin (melanin index). This must be done before each treatment and for each zone before laser treatment. Otherwise, there is a great risk of burning the skin. The treatment head (made of sapphire) cools the skin before and after the treatment, which is very pleasant for the client. In addition, this cooling process relieves the skin from the heat.

WHAT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED BEFORE AND AFTER HAIR REMOVAL TREATMENTS?

Avoid any sunbathing, solarium, self-tanner, chemical hair removal creams and waxing, epilating as well as plucking for 3 weeks before and after each treatment.

HOW DO I PREPARE BEFORE THE LASER HAIR REMOVAL TREATMENT?

The skin area to be treated needs to be shaved the night before.

HOW DOES THE TREATMENT FEEL?

Depending on the skin zone, you will perceive the laser impulse as slight picks, heat, or short pain. The hairs, which are in the growth phase, fall out during the next few days.

WHAT DOES A TREATMENT LOOK LIKE?

The skin zone is shaved at the beginning of the treatment. Now it is measured to determine your melanin index with the Skintel (determination of your skin type). Then your hair occurrence (hair color, hair thickness, and hair density) is determined for the exact setting. The cooled handpiece is now placed on your skin for treatment. Finally, the skin area is treated with skincare cream.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS DOES IT TAKE?

This depends on hair occurrence and skin type. An average of 6 to 10 treatments can be given.

CAN ALL HAIR BE TREATED?

Yes, if there is a color difference between the untreated hair and the skin base color.

HOW LONG DOES A TREATMENT TAKE?

ARE THERE SIDE EFFECTS?

Redness may occur. The appearance of chicken skin is desirable, as this provides the necessary heat in the hair shaft. These skin reactions usually disappear by themselves after a few hours.
