The fractional laser (1540) is one of the most advanced methods for skin improvement and rejuvenation, also known by the technical term skin resurfacing. This laser is used for the treatment of fine lines as well as for gentle skin tightening and refining the overall skin texture. It is also highly effective as an anti-aging therapy for the face. I recommend starting in autumn and continuing with one session every four weeks throughout the winter.

TREATMENT PROCEDURE

The fractional laser vaporizes hundreds of microscopic cylinders in the skin. The laser pulses create microscopic burns deep inside the skin. In between these deliberately damaged skin patches, there is some untreated skin, from where rapid healing sets in. Fresh tissue is formed everywhere by new collagen, which refines, rejuvenates, and tightens the entire skin appearance.

To achieve the desired result, 4 to 6 treatments are necessary, 3 to 4 weeks apart.

WHICH AREAS CAN BE TREATED?

HOW LONG DOES A TREATMENT TAKE?

Depending on the area, between 10 to 20 minutes.

HOW DOES THIS TREATMENT FEEL?

The treatment feels like a slight burning sensation or a short burst of heat. The perception of pain is very subjective and hence very individual. If desired, an anesthetic cream can be applied before the treatment.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE RECOMMENDED?

Depending on the skin condition, between 4 to 6 sessions.

WHAT IS THE SKIN REGENERATION PROCESS?

Immediately after the treatment, there is slight edema (accumulation of water) in the skin. Swelling develops. This usually disappears within a few hours. In some cases, the swelling may last for a few days. Immediately after the treatment, there is redness and a feeling of warmth. The redness may remain for between 2 to 7 days, depending on the skin. In rare cases, slight brown discoloration may occur. It is a question of time until this discoloration disappears by itself.
